I think the best places in Italy are:
MonterosaSki is a beatifull area. The skistation compound three Valley: Val d'Ayas, Valle di Gressoney and Alagna Valsesia. There is 180km of slopes and it is near the Monterosa.
Cervinia is a nice station. It is very tall. The slopes star from 2000m. The link with zermatt is fantastic and the Mattarhorn is the same.
La Thuile is a beatifull place near the Ruitor. It is 160km of slopes. It is link with Rosiere in France.
The DolomitiSuperSki is the biggest place in Italy there is over 1000km of slopes. The better area is the Sellaronda area. It is compound 5 villege aropund the Sella montain.
Via Lattea: is the second biggest area in italy. Here there was the olimpic of Torino 2006. Is a beatifull area.

Yes. It is true. The city is very ugly with a lot of big buildings. But the panorama over the city is very beatifull.

Via Lattea is a beatifull place with a 400km of slopes and 120 km of that are covered with artificial snow. Slopes are very spectacular and the ski resort is very large, so take care about the time. It is also possible to ski until Montgenevre in France but you need to buy the extension for the whole area. It also possible to buy the skipass for a limited area like, for example, Monte della Luna which includes Claviere, Cesana Torinese and Montgenevre. The high number of lifts makes difficult to upgrade them and in the ski resort one sit chairlift still survive together with modern four sit covered chairlifts.
